Our “Early Years Matter” publication has been published in Hungarian

 

In February 2018, we launched our small grant program „Building Capacities for Effective Early Childhood Development of Marginalized Roma in Hungary", which was renamed Early Years Matter in 2021.  Carpathian Foundation awarded grants (nearly HUF 3-4 million per project annually) to registered CSOs supporting and developing marginalized Roma communities in the regions of Northern Hungary and Northern Great Plain through a call for proposals.

In the third season, 2021/2022, 10 organizations implemented projects in 11 locations.

The program contributes to the early skills development of nearly 300 young children under 8 living in disadvantaged circumstances each year. The projects supported children with regular skills and capacity building programs, excursions and camps that are not available or hardly available to them in these rural areas. They also supported the parents concerned to obtain information on childcare and to overcome stereotypes of Roma exclusion.
