Does it strengthen or weaken us? – A civil meeting in Eger

On 19 September 2020, a regional professional meeting entitled ’Does it strengthen or weaken us?  - civilians during and after the epidemic’ was organized at Szépasszonyvölgy in Eger, connected to the event of 25th Eger Civil Festival.

Approximately 40 people attended the meeting, including volunteers, members and staff of CSOs from the North-Eastern regions of Hungary.

With the participation of the invited lecturers: Réka Makula (The 21st Century Roma Women's Association), Melinda Vartik (The Lamenda Foundation) and Tibor Csathó (Civil Society Roundtable of Eger) the emergency situation caused by a new strain of coronavirus was discussed.

We discoursed the way how CSOs active in the North-Eastern regions of Hungary react to the crisis situation caused by the coronavirus outbreak, organize their communities, continue their activities in the altered circumstances and prepare for the upcoming second wave. Also lessons learned and what to do differently in the future based were shared.

The substantive reports were followed by an interesting conversation, large number of participants spoke at the event and shared their experiences on the topic. There was also a talk of how online learning, children being at home, dropping out of work due to pandemic, has impacted everyday life and how children and adults experienced  an absence of personal encounters brought by the COVID-19 crisis.

Thank you for your active participation and inputs! We hope to continue soon!
