Carpathian Emergency Response Fund for Ukrainians

The Nyíregyháza-based Hidden Treasures Down Association won a HUF 1,000,000 grant from the Carpathian Emergency Response Fund for Ukrainians. In the Csodavár Playhouse, they provide free playhouse opportunities in an informal way for children who have fled from Ukraine, but with help, while parents can also relax a bit. Specialists in special education assess the children who reach them and start or continue the development activities that are right for them. Ukrainian interpreters are also involved in the development work if necessary. For children with severe intellectual disabilities, specialists go out to the accommodations where refugees are hosted to provide developmental support for children who need so.

The organisation "We Want to Live Charitable Foundation for Disabled Children" operates a children's camp in Hont. It converted from summer camping of disabled children, to accommodate refugee families when the war broke out. They currently have two families living there and are expecting one more in the next few days. They plan to expand their reception capacity, provide full board for their residents, have a good relationship with the local municipality, provide regular medical care and mental support to the residents. They have provided equipment for the children, who learn online thanks to the school in Kharkov. Regular programmes and excursions are organised to help them overcome their trauma. The 981,856 HUF grant will be used to replace their broken boilers and organise programmes for the residents.
