On September 1, 2022, the Board of Directors of the Carpathian Foundation awarded grants from the Carpathian Emergency Response Fund for Ukrainians to two associations from the sub-fund "Promoting the integration of Roma refugees in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Hajdú-Bihar counties".
The project "Help yourself”" of the National Association of Roma Women of the 21st Century received 3.998.000 HUF, and the project "Focus on the Ukrainians 2." of the Somnakuno Drom Association received 3.700.000 HUF.
Between September and December 2022, both organizations will provide complex services and programmes for families of Roma origin living in the counties concerned, who have fled the war in Ukraine. They will be assisted in dealing with their official affairs, enrolling their children in school, kindergarten and related matters, finding work, and accessing health and other (public) services. They also organize donations and help families to make a living and succeed in Hungary. The project promoters will establish links with other bodies and organizations in the region working towards similar goals and will seek regular cooperation, mainly through the exchange of information and best practices.
We wish success in their work!
