The second half of our five-day study trip was spent in Leiden, the Netherlands, the cradle of early childhood education. We spent a full day exploring Het Gebouw, an integrated centre for children and young people, where kindergartens, primary schools, health, social and cultural services are all under one roof. We met, among others, Leiden's Alderman for Equality, Youth and Education and the staff of the organisations working in the centre, who gave us a tour of its activities. On our last day, Mihaela Ionescu, Program Director, International Step by Step Association (ISSA), gave a presentation on "The EU Children's Guarantee and the Barcelona objectives", which was followed by a presentation by Marissa Verbeek of ES Rijnland on the inclusive early childhood education and care services program.
