The "small marketplace" in Lajosváros
The Lajosváros district of Eger is predominantly suburban in character. Small-scale producers who cultivate gardens want to sell their fruit and vegetables close to their homes. There is a vegetable pavilion and three shops where fruit and vegetables can be bought. Access to the downtown market is expensive by car and time-consuming by public transport. Small farmers would like to provide fresh 'organic' vegetables for older people and parents with children. The aim of the project is to mobilise local activists for the establishment of a local farmers' market - collecting signatures, consulting decision-makers and local stakeholders - and then applying to the municipality to secure a site for the farmers' market.
