Launch of ‘Emergency Response Fund for Ukrainians’ for European donors who want to support Ukrainians in Ukraine and in the region

As border countries who have now seen thousands of Ukrainian refugees crossing their borders and heard the call for help of neighbouring Ukrainian charities, TGE Hungarian and Slovakian partners Carpathian Foundation Hungary and the Carpathian Foundation Slovakia have launched a joint appeal to European donors seeking to support Ukrainian communities affected by the ongoing crisis.
The initiative aims at facilitating European donations to support the Ukrainians in the border regions: in the Ukrainian territory, Hungary and Slovakia where civil societies have been mobilizing their efforts to collect resources and provide support for acute humanitarian and long-term needs.
The resources will go towards not-for-profits active in Ukraine to provide direct emergency support in the country. The funds will help to deliver, for example, food parcels with flour, oil, salt and sugar or hygiene parcels with diapers or soap or medicines and other medical supplies, as well as drinking water and firewood. Donations will also support Hungarian and Slovakian not-for-profits setting up and funding refugee capacities in Hungary and Slovakia for immediate and acute needs, legal and psychological assistance, and long-term support (inclusion, integration assistance and education).
The Slovak-Hungarian Emergency Response Fund for Ukrainians is a joint initiative of the Carpathian Foundation Hungary and the Carpathian Foundation Slovakia. Both foundations are part of Transnational Giving Europe (TGE), which can, thanks to its network of leading European foundations, facilitate the secure and tax-efficient transfer of financial resources to support the response to the crisis faced by Ukrainian people.
