Successful launch event for inspiring small rural communities

The launch event of the project "Strengthening and Activating Small Communities of Northern Hungarian Settlements" (EFOP-1.3.5-16-2016-00915) was successfully organized on 12 October 2017 with nearly 80 participants.

The main aim of the event was to assist the involved small communities to get to know each other and to present a wider picture of we are going to achieve together with their active participation in the following three year. The conference was attended by representatives of civil organizations, public institutions, higher education and other developers, training organizations, institutions working in the field of community development in Heves, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Nógrád counties.

The conference was opened by the representative of the New Generation Point, Eszter Égető and the director of the Carpathian Foundation-Hungary, Boglárka Bata, by welcome speeches. Subsequently, Melinda Vartik, the Project Manager, presented the project in details to the audience. Organizations cooperating in the project were interactively presented int he form of a short movie.

"Community Activity and Social Participation According to Researches" was the title of the lecture of Dr. Szilvia Simándi, Head of Department of the Eszterházy Károly University.

A round table discussion involving civil experts closed the event discussing the development possibilities of rural communities. Participants of the panel were: Dr. Zsuzsanna Farkas, the Eger Foundation of SZETA, Zsuzsa Foltányi, the Ökotárs Foundation and Mátyás Komáromi, the Roots and Wings Foundation.
